The project “Cleaning illegal garbage dumps located along the coastline in the MRC de la Haute-Côte-Nord” aims to clean the region (from Tadoussac to Colombier) of existing illegal dumps, as well as to raise awareness among the local population (“young people” in particular, but also all people in municipalities as well as in the indigenous community of Essipit) to the problem of illegal dumps in order to avoid: refill them after cleaning.
The main objectives include organizing a campaign to clean up sites where clandestine waste deposits are found; organizing a campaign to raise awareness among the population adapted for each municipality to environmental damage and the risks of this type of pollution on human health; applying approaches to directing people to official landfill sites; and taking care of cleaned sites.
