The Abrinord River Quality Monitoring Program was established in 2010 following a roundtable that identified a lack of knowledge about water quality in the Rivière du Nord and its main tributaries.
This program makes it possible to acquire rigorous scientific data in order to draw an overall picture of water quality, among other things, from a public health perspective. For more than 10 years, the program has been constantly evolving in order to meet the needs of the environment and to better understand the impacts of land use on the quality of watercourses. Thanks to partnerships (community, municipal, economic, governmental) that have been developed over the years, the number of sampling points has multiplied, making it possible today to draw a global portrait of water quality.
