GW Solutions was retained to build a water quality baseline for both surface water and groundwater in the Peace River Regional District (PRRD). GW Solutions used existing water quality data gathered from databases, web systems and reports. This dataset includes data gathered from EMS for the purposes of this project. The EMS is a water quality repository system created and maintained by the Government of British Columbia. It includes chemical analyses results on air, water, and soil for samples collected by ministry staff and industry. The database presently (2017) stores over 13 million publicly available water and sediments quality results. Data from the EMS is publicly available through the EMS Web Reporting (EMS WR). GW Solutions has compiled, cleaned and standardized the EMS water quality data as part of the Peace River Regional District (PRRD) water quality baseline. Within the PRRD, the EMS provides information on about 325 stations with approximately 10,550 water chemistry results for non-treated surface water (data available up to February 2015). The PRRD project was funded by the Real Estate Foundation of British Columbia (REFBC), the Peace River Regional District (PRRD), Treaty 8 Tribal Association (T8TA), and in-kind contributions from GW Solutions Inc., and Interraplan Inc.
