The purpose of the multi-year GWAS Water Monitoring Plan is to provide knowledge and a database of information about the health of the lotic aquatic systems within the Ghost Watershed. Monitoring changes over time is an important aspect of protecting a watershed. Monitoring of watershed health following the CABiN (Canadian Aquatic Biomonitoring Network) protocol is a recommendation in the Ghost River State of the Watershed Report (2018). The data collected will augment existing information and is intended to assist public land managers and other organizations tasked with water management responsibilities to better manage our water resources. It will also help GWAS identify high priority sites for future restoration and provide baseline data for future state of the watershed reporting.
