The Hillsborough River Association (HRA) and the Pisquid River Enhancement Project (PREP) have been collaboratively monitoring the primary watercourses of the Hillsborough River watershed for many years. HOBO data loggers are used for temperature monitoring and water samples are delivered to Holland College’s Department of Environmental Applied Science Technology for nitrate analysis. Angela Banks, the HRA’s project leader, and Emma Wattie, Director of Atlantic Water Network, developed key partnerships with The Gordon Foundation and WWF-Canada to coordinate the implementation of Atlantic DataStream under Environment & Climate Change Canada’s Atlantic Ecosystem Initiative funding. The HRA’s three-year AEI funding project “Watershed-based Monitoring & Database Development for Climate Change Adaptation” was a success, and both HRA and PREP intend to continue submitting water data to Atlantic DataStream indefinitely.
